Established by the Mental Health America organization, millions are reached through media, local events, and screenings. According to the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention Data & Statistics Fatal Injury Report stated in 2017, 47,173 Americans died by suicide, the 10th leading cause of death in the country, with 90% of those deaths having a diagnosable mental health condition at the time of death.
